Prof. Seungbum Koo delivered a keynote lecture at the ISB TGCS (Technical Group on Computer Simulation) Conference held in Kyoto, Japan, July 26-28, 2023. The title of the lecture was "Forward dynamics gait simulation of musculoskeletal human model using reinforcement learning." The ISB TGCS is a biennial conference focused on computer simulation in biomechanics, especially human movement, motor control, and robotics related to biomechanics. The 19th conference featured two keynote lectures, with Professor Seungbum Koo discussing the reinforcement learning-based human motion controllers in musculoskeletal dynamics simulations and their research applications such as muscle activation patterns and assistive device co-simulation.

2020.06.2-4 Online Lecture on Human Musculoskeletal Simulation to support Biomechanics Research in Dominican Republic

KAIST supports R&D projects in Dominican Republic in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science in Dominican Republic by the support from KOICA. One of the promising projects of developing an exoskeleton system to prevent bedsore disease in patients has been in need of educational support for biomechanical background of it. Prof. Seungbum Koo and his graduate students prepared and gave online lectures on theories and practices on musculoskeletal simulation using OpenSim on 2-4th June. The three-day lecture was given between 6-9 pm in Dominican Republic and 10-15 researchers joint the lecture real-time. The recorded videos and lecture materials were also handed for the researchers who could not join the lecture real-time.

2020.2.8-11, Prof. Koo and his master students (Jeongsuk Oh and Suil Jeon) attended the Annual Conference of Orthopaedic Research Society held in Phoenix, Arizona. Prof. Koo gave an oral presentation on foot biomechanics. 

2019.11.5 Our laboratory organized and provided a seminar to KCSI police agents on the forensic gait analysis using the software developed in the lab through the Projects for Research and Development of Police Science and Technology Grant.  

2019.7.31-8.4 Prof. Koo and Jungwon Kim (master student) attended the biennial meeting of International Society of Biomechanics held in Calgary, Canada.

2019.7.18 Prof. Naomichi Ogihara (University of Tokyo) and Prof. Taeyong Lee (Ewha Womans University) visited our lab and gave a seminar on foot biomechanics.
