This course focuses on the biomechanical aspects of the human musculoskeletal system and orthopedic biomechanics. It covers the structures and functions of bone, cartilage, muscle, tendon, ligament, and connective tissues. Mathematical modeling for their formation and functions will be taught along with hands-on MATLAB programming and simulation assignments.
Three weeks on bone formation, growth, maintenance, and degradation
Three weeks on muscle physiology, types, and function
Three weeks on tendons and ligaments
Three weeks on kinesiology (movement of the body's musculoskeleal system)
